“Pathways to tackle MEG4 challenges” will be held on April 13, 2023 BlueTech Media & Broadside Marine.

The seminar will discuss about the MEG4 residual challenges and likely practical solutions to address these issues. The webinar will also present an overview of the current best practices in the Industry.

Overview

One of the key reasons for the successful acceptance of MEG4 was the fact that it was developed with input from a wide range of stakeholders, including tanker operators, equipment manufacturers, and regulatory bodies. This collaborative approach ensured that the guidelines were practical, realistic, and relevant to the needs of the industry. The tanker industry has generally been able to adopt MEG4 quite well since its release in 2018. The guidelines have been widely recognized and accepted as the industry most authoritative standard for mooring equipment, till date. Not only tanker industry but the MEG4 echoes can be heard in Dry Ships vetting and upcoming IMO regulations as well.

That being said, some tanker operators may face challenges in implementing the recommendations of MEG4, particularly if they are operating with Pre MEG4 vessels or equipment that may not meet the latest standards. Even regional stakeholders such as Tanker Terminals or Oil Majors may have varied requirements different from MEG4. In such cases, companies need to acknowledge and learn to navigate through the roadblocks and comply with the MEG4 guidelines through a risk-based approach.
